  “Innovation and Growth”

On September 14, 2024, our school held the fall-semester Foreign Teacher Faculty Conference for the 2024-2025 academic year. With the new school year underway, our dynamic team of foreign teachers is poised for action. The conference, guided by the philosophy of "Harmony in Diversity", centered on the theme of "Innovation and Growth.”

The robust development and collective efforts of the foreign teaching team are inseparable from the professional leadership and thoughtful support of both Chinese and foreign supervisors in each department. Their continuous innovation in teaching and student management provides ample growth opportunities for our foreign educators.

The conference opened with the appointment ceremony for the new academic year's department leaders. Meanwhileas qualified and dedicated teachers, conducting effective teaching and efficient classroom management are crucial. Then, letters of appointment were issued and distributed to the respective academic leaders, whose job responsibility ensure the enhancement of professional teaching. Academic leaders regularly organize collaborative research, lesson planning, peer evaluations, and classroom observations of exemplary teachers.

Not only do leadership roles play a key part in our team, the renowned "Teaching Helper Activity" program also contributes greatly. This initiative helps new team members quickly integrate into their roles and adapt to 21st Century School culture. We recognized and honored outstanding mentors and mentees in this program from the 2023-2024 academic year. With awardees proudly sharing their achievements in happy smile, it was believed that they must have gained a lot from this program.

Meanwhile, in this new 2024-2025 academic year, seven new foreign teachers joined our 21st Century School family, embarking on their education journey with us! Continuing the “Teaching Helper Activity” tradition, each new member is paired with a "mentor," who received a letter of appointment. We hope that as their new journey unfolds, mentors and apprentices will achieve greater progress and innovation together!

Reflecting on the past and looking forward, it's essential to take each step confidently and steadily!

The core part of the conference was divided into three main sections:

1.Leaders from each department outlined their plans for the new semester, including (but not limited to) team members, curriculum, teaching arrangements, and  professional development. Amid the evolving challenges of international   education, we remain committed to our mission, forging ahead with determination.

2.The 21st Century School offers foreign teachers a stable and high-quality platform for professional development, where they can engage in lifelong learning and access to cutting-edge educational concepts and technologies. Three representatives from elementary, middle, and high school shared their research experiences.

Thomas from the primary shcool presented on "The Application of AI in Education and Teaching", showcasing how various AI tools can be utilized in classrooms.

John from the middle school highlighted the successful application of B.F. Skinner’s operant conditioning theory and token economy system in launching the popular "Anto-Coin" reward system.

Harrison from the high school  explored the topic "Me | Myself | AI", focusing on AI tools in the high school literature curriculum.

3.Based on last semester's satisfaction survey, Ms. Jiang from HR department presented optimized service solutions involving HR and administrative departments. Detailed solutions were provided for issues like the school calendar,  professional training, salary, attendance, housing, campus network, equipment maintenance, and office support. Our administrative team is dedicated to supporting the foreign teacher team. Ms. Jiang also invites foreign teachers’ participation in the "Foreign Teacher Job Satisfaction" research project to gather more authentic feedback.

At last, Principal Mr. Fan Shengwu concluded the conference, expressing gratitude to all foreign teachers for their valuable contributions and advanced educational insights. Through deep communication and collaboration, our Chinese and foreign teacher teams can integrate better and provide diverse, high-quality education for our students. We hope more foreign teachers will be able to walk on the higher podium of Chinese education, reap professional growth in China and seize every opportunity!
